Hidden Places helps you discover and book private outdoor spaces, unusual locations and peaceful places offered by local hosts.
These may include woodland, fields, gardens, lakeside areas, private viewpoints and other distinctive spaces that are not normally open to the public.
Hidden Places can be used for short visits, activities, photography, wellbeing sessions, private gatherings, day use and overnight stays where these are offered.
How Hidden Places works
Hosts create listings for their land or space and describe the different ways guests can use it.
You can browse available Places, review the Experiences offered, check photographs and facilities, and submit a booking request for the date you would like to visit.
The host can then review your request, ask questions if necessary and confirm whether the visit can go ahead.
What is a Place?
A Place is the physical location listed by the host.
For example, a host may list a private woodland, meadow, garden or lakeside area as a Place.
The Place page contains general information about the location, including its description, photographs, facilities and approximate location.
What is an Experience?
An Experience describes a particular way you can book and use the Place.
One Place may offer several Experiences, each with its own price, duration and description.
A woodland Place might offer an hourly photography Experience, a half-day wellbeing Experience and a private overnight camping Experience.
Booking types
Experiences may be offered using different booking types:
- Hourly — for shorter visits booked by the hour.
- Half-day — for a longer morning or afternoon visit.
- Day — for use during the day.
- Nightly — for overnight stays where permitted.
Always read the Experience description carefully so you understand exactly what the booking includes.
Private land and outdoor spaces
Many Hidden Places are private, rural or outdoor locations rather than managed visitor attractions.
Conditions may therefore differ from public parks, hotels or purpose-built venues. Paths may be uneven, mobile phone signal may be limited and facilities may be simple.
Hosts should explain important access details, restrictions and available facilities in their listing.
Check that the Place is right for you
Before booking, review:
- The Place description and photographs.
- The specific Experience you want to book.
- The available facilities.
- Access and parking information.
- Guest numbers and group restrictions.
- Rules concerning children, dogs or equipment.
- Any accessibility or mobility considerations.

Booking securely
Booking requests, conversations and payments should be managed through Hidden Places.
Keeping everything within the platform creates a clear booking record and helps protect both guests and hosts.
Never send money directly to a host by bank transfer, cash or another payment service when the booking is being arranged through Hidden Places.
Your responsibilities as a guest
Guests are expected to treat the Place, the host and the surrounding area with respect.
- Provide accurate information when booking.
- Follow the host's rules and arrival instructions.
- Use the Place only for the agreed activity.
- Do not exceed the confirmed number of guests.
- Take reasonable care of the land and facilities.
- Leave the Place in an appropriate condition.
- Report damage or problems promptly.
